Western Retail Replenishment Program

Scheduled multi-drop deliveries from Truganina to retail parks across Melbourne's west.

A wholesale distributor needed predictable store replenishment after outgrowing ad hoc carrier bookings.

Challenge

Multiple carriers on the same store list produced inconsistent windows and conflicting proof-of-delivery formats. Store managers could not plan receiving staff because arrival times varied week to week without explanation.

Import containers arrived irregularly, sometimes leaving the distributor with stock on the floor and no aligned outbound plan for the retail drop that week.

The sales team hesitated to promote western stores because delivery promises could not be backed with a stable transport schedule.

Approach

HPS FREIGHT established a fixed weekly route structure with named delivery days per precinct. Inbound containers were booked to arrive before the consolidation cut-off for that week's retail movement.

We introduced a standard manifest template and photo proof-of-delivery on every stop. Our office runs a rolling four-week forecast call to resize vehicles before promotional peaks.

A single account contact at our Truganina office owns status for the entire program so the customer is not chasing separate warehouse and transport providers.

Results

Refused deliveries dropped within six weeks as receivers learned to expect consistent windows and paperwork.

Emergency taxi-truck top-ups reduced because the scheduled run absorbed most predictable volume.

The customer reports fewer stockouts on promotional lines and can quote replenishment dates to retail accounts with confidence.
